Google Play just exposed this app as commiting ad-fraud on all of our devices. (It opened web pages secretly in the background and clicked on ads). In addition to all the odd permissions it wanted (such as managing your phone calls), constantly harvesting all your data in the background, and suddenly removing some program functionality, that was the last straw. I've uninstalled Meitu. I don't need my phone to be clicking on ads and slowing things up, so that they can make money from my device.

I’ve been using this app for years and it used to be my favorite photo editing tool. Unfortunately, it has become nearly unusable unless you pay for the premium version. Almost every feature now requires a subscription, even the basic ones that were once free. It’s really disappointing to see such a great app become so restricted. I understand the need for monetization, but this shift has completely changed the user experience for the worse.

I have to update my original review from 2023. This is a great app with lots of features but not for these new prices for the VIP and VIP+. Its getting more and more expensive. It doesn't tell you what the difference is between the two and everything that comes with those subscriptions. If you want me paying $84/year for VIP+ you should at least tell me what I am getting for all that cash. My previous subscription lapsed that was $32/year, totally doable. Now it's $32/quarterly and $74 for VIP.
